The City of South Padre Island Parks and Recreation will host its annual Fourth of July Beach Parade for the community and visitors. Friends of Animals will start the parade. At the end, watermelon, bottled water, and other goodies will be given out while supplies last.
The parade will begin at beach access #20 at East Georgia Ruth Drive and end at access #17 at East Mars Lane. Line up begins at 9:30 a.m. with the parade starting at 10 a.m.

A special Fireworks Over the Bay for Fourth of July will take place at Louie’s Backyard at 9:15 p.m.

Bring the family and join the 5th annual STEMS Outdoor Sports and Science EXPO hosted by the STEMS Mentors Club at UT Brownsville – first time on the Island! Fun activities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) include fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, archery, birding, planetarium shows, space science activities, plant identification and face painting. Try the obstacle course set up by current American Ninja Warrior participant Abel Gonzalez, a Valley native. Participants must sign waivers, available at the registration booth. Ages 17 and under must be signed by a parent/guardian; over 17 will require a witness.
