It’s almost here: The 100th day of school! A whole day dedicated to a very important guest of honor: the number 100. Kiddos have a blast showing what they can do with the number 100 in math, science, art, reading and writing!
All moms and dads should also celebrate, because you made it through the first 100 days of drop off, pick up and homework!!
Oh, and who can forget the fun 100th day projects that we get to work on at home? As an educator, I am always blown away by the creativity and effort I see. As kiddos get out of their cars the morning of the 100th day of school, I ask myself “Well, why didn’t I think of that?”
DIY 100th Day Ideas
Here are a few of my faves to celebrate this big milestone with your little ones:
- AgingBooth App – Whether you are an Android or Apple user, download the FREE AgingBooth app. You’ll have some fun snapping photos of what your little ones may look like in “100” years. There is no doubt you will hear some giggles as you instantly age their face photos. I’m not promising there will not be some tears as well if you decide to try this on your face, too! Kids seem to love the mini counter that flips through the ages in a flash as your photo loads. Once they see their older face, it’s a great time to have them think about what they may be up to 100 years from now. Here’s a picture of a quick shoot we did with our little one.
- Fashion of 100 – Perhaps one of the most popular 100th day of school projects is to create a T-shirt using 100 “things.” The only limitations here are up to your creativity and what the shirt can actually hold. Last year we conquered this task with a quick visit to our nearest Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart. A $3 shirt and a few boxes of Minion Band-Aids later, we had completed this beauty:
If Minion Band-Aids aren’t your thing, here are a few other easy ones we found from Kinder Craze: 
- Collect 100…. Another fun project the kiddos seem to enjoy is collecting 100 of something. Sometimes teachers even ask that your collection fit in a Ziploc baggie. The possibilities are really endless with this one. It’s also a great time to practice with sets of 10. Here are some items that are easy to find: coins, M&M’s, pieces of cereal (Cheerios and Fruit Loops work well), jelly beans, paper clips, rocks, bottle caps, popsicle sticks, beads, beans, Legos, straws, cotton balls, buttons, rubber bands and stickers.
- Snack Idea – If your child’s school allows you to bring in snacks for the students, here is a cute idea from Crayons & Cuties in Kinder. I know lots of kiddos would be so excited to go home with these!
