Breezy Ballet Flats {Mox Shoe Review & Giveaway!}

3

This is a sponsored post by Mox Shoes. I was provided with a complimentary pair of shoes in exchange for my review. The following was written by me and is my own, honest opinion. Also, don’t miss their special offer for a 10% discount (with code RGV10) at the end of my post!

I knew there were going to be some perks to blogging online with the Rio Grande Valley Moms Blog, I just knew it. And guess what, there is! I have met an array of wonderful women who are amazing mothers and easily offer themselves when they hear you are having a rough time being a momma. Oh, and there are some actual tangible perks as well… like trying out some really cool products we think moms would love.

Yup, this is the life.

I was the lucky guinea pig selected to try out a new pair of shoes. I hadn’t previously heard about Mox shoes, but I was interested in trying them out. My feet have spent the past five years transitioning from cute shoes and heels (pre-kids) to socks and running shoes (post-kids) for my daily life. I’m aiming to update my wardrobe, shoes included, so this new pair came at a perfect time.

Before my shoes arrived, I spent some time clicking around their website. In the company’s own words, “Mox Shoes Are A Comfortable, Stylish Rubber Ballet Flat; A Great Alternative To Flip-Flops.

Did you catch that? A ballet flat that offers an alternative to wearing flip-flops— or, as they’re commonly known down here in the Rio Grande Valley, chanclas.

Yes, kudos to whomever came up with that advertising tagline. In my humble opinion, it’s awesome! And just what I need: I’m looking for as shoe that is: (1) cute, (2) easy to wear, and (3) comfortable.

A pretty, low-maintenance shoe:

Mox shoes are described as being fairly lightweight and easy to wear for a multitude of occasions. The shoe has a basket weave pattern which I would further describe as looking almost like rope— that’s pretty cool, considering they’re made entirely of rubber!

They come in seven different colors, and I was pumped to try the gold version. It compliments my skin tone quite well and makes a great nude alternative that can be easily paired with anything and everything. As I mentioned before, the shoes are made from 100% man-made rubber, which also makes them easy to clean. You can just hose them down and let the air dry them. That’s a plus fro me because I don’t have time to care for delicate shoes in a delicate manner these days… not with my three small children running around.

Because they are a lightweight, rubber ballet flat, they pack like a dream! This is a big plus in my book because packing shoes is always difficult for me when we travel. I need to have at least one pair of nicer shoes I can wear, other than hiking boots, when we are camping. A ballet flat is a good alternative, but I don’t want to pack a shoe that will get smashed and ruined.

My new Mox shoes seem like a perfect solution.

Overall, as you probably guessed, I am truly enjoying these versatile shoes. In fact, I’m wearing my gold pair right now, as I prepare this post.

Standing up to the super-busy day test:

To be sure I wrote an honest review, I wore them on a jam-packed day full of “mom” activities. Sunday morning begins with prying ourselves out of bed and getting ourselves dressed, as well our children, for church. Typically, of the five of us, I usually look the least best dressed. A big reason for this is I don’t have an assortment of pretty and comfy shoes to go with anything that I am wearing. That is, until now!

After church, we came home for lunch where I had to be on my feet and cook while attempting to still eat myself. Then, we rounded up our human crowd once again and loaded our pups in the truck for doggy check-ups. Our H-E-B has a dog clinic, so we waited in line on a bright, sunny afternoon with our children and dogs. I had my youngest baby, 11 months old, on my back in my carrier and we stood in line for exactly an hour.

Afterwards, we made made another quick stop at the house  before it was off to grandmother’s house we went. My husband and I decided to have an afternoon to ourselves, so I quickly changed my church clothes into something a little cuter for our date. My shoes were still comfortably on my feet and dressed up my simple dress quite nicely. We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening running around town, visiting our favorite shops, and even went to the mall.

By the time we got to the mall, I attributed a slight irritation I felt in my right foot to the fatness of my right pinky toe. (It is, oddly, a little more plump than my left toe!) Other than this, I was quite comfortable. By the end of the night I was, of course, ready to put my feet up. A long and full day was still tiresome on my feet, but not any more than normal.

So what did I think of the Mox shoes? They are amazing! I loved wearing them. They felt like I was barefoot when I ran after my dog on the concrete. They felt cool in the sunny afternoon heat. The most important part for me: They were easy to put on. They were easy to wear. They were pretty… and comfortable!

I think I will be purchasing a second pair, only this time I’ll add the dark blueberry to my collection.

  1. I was expecting these to be upwards of $60 a pair! They’re so cute. I wear a lot of dresses and skirts and sometimes wearing running shoes with skirts makes it look like I’m part of some weird, religious forest group. It’s hard to find ballet flats that are actually comfortable and good quality! Did the rubber rub against your feet or make them sweat at all? Are they comparable to the 1990’s rubber jellies? Thanks!

    • These knock jellies out of the water. They’re very soft and flexible, yet sturdy. They are also vented and stay very cool, coming from super hot south Texas. Hope you enjoy your Mox! The coupon code expires on March 15th – RGV10

  2. These sound like my perfect shoes! I love the nice looking but plain crocs because I can wear them with anything. I dislike shopping so I try to get a shoe that will match everything. I’m definitely going to try them out. Thank you!
