Transitioning from SAHM to Working MomTell us a little bit about you:

Hi RGV moms! I have lived in the Valley for 14 years now. I moved to deep south Texas by myself, as a single gal, for a new job.  In my past life, I was a news reporter/anchor for Channel 5 News. Now, I’m married and have one 3-year-old son.  I left the news world in 2012 to be a stay-at-home mom, but returned to work last year. I am a communications writer at UTRGV.

Originally from San Antonio, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a journalism degree. When I’m not working or writing, I enjoy traveling to SA and Austin to visit my family.  We also enjoy getaways to SPI as often as we can.

Finish this sentence: “You’d never guess that I…”

… probably had a class in college with my future husband, Tony, but had no idea! We were recently comparing transcripts and found out we took the same class, the same semester at UT Austin. It was a small, unique, elective class and he reminded me of some of the details of the class and our professor. I knew exactly what he was talking about. We are nearly certain (third-party confirmed) there were no other sections of the class.  One class, each semester. We would not actually meet until 6 or 7 years later. Weird? Creepy? I prefer, meant to be!beach correct

Describe your ideal day.

Waking up in a beach town and spending the day enjoying the sand, water and tropical drinks.

Name three must-haves and why.

1) Obviously, my iPhone: No explanation needed.

2) Tea in all forms, hot and iced: I love sweet tea (my bad habit), and I have to have my hot tea (chai is my fave) every morning.

3) Mascara: A few coats makes all the difference. The eyes are everything!

What do you miss most about life before kids?

I miss being spontaneous and, of course, the freedom of doing what we want, when we want, like going on trips.

In three words, what kind of mom are you?

Loving. Protective. Involved.

Anything else fun we should know?

I love to sing, mostly in my car.  I also enjoy the spiritual side of life and always analyze situations/events spiritually.
