I Just Want to Say: Freebies!!!

0

I wanted to be a teacher so I could stay home with my kids during the summer, like a pseudo-stay-at-home mom.  I love it!  Only two weeks into summer vacation and if I ever have to introduce myself as a teacher I have to think twice and check myself.  Me a Teacher?  I totally forget my “other life” during the summer.

Being a pseudo-stay-at-mom was always a big ambition of mine and I thank God he has blessed me with this opportunity and I fully take advantage of it.  I keep myself informed of all the events the Rio Grande Valley has for kiddos and their mommies.  And it has paid off.  Our summer has been filled with many fun activities.

Sale (1)One thing I wasn’t expecting was FREEBIES!!!  Going to many of these events and participating in these summer programs has added up to more events and programs, but this time FOR FREE!!!  It’s like when financial investment agents talk about compound interest.  You put in your time and money and over time what you put in to it doubles or triples.  Same thing with summer activities.

Let me just give you two examples:

My daughter is participating in the McAllen Public Libraries Summer Reading program.  After every ten books she reads (Or I read to her, she is 5) she goes to the library to redeem prizes.  After the first ten books she read we enjoyed a FREE lunch at the Corner Bakery and a FREE afternoon at Fantasyland Skate Center. A fun activity filled summer afternoon all because we were participating in Summer Reading Program!

This last weekend we went to see a FREE Movie in the Park at Westside Park in McAllen.  They showed Frozen, my daughter’s favorite (for now).  Before we entered the park I got a FREE picture book and a coupon for a $4 item at The Children’s Orchard.  As we entered the gates a worker from the city of McAllen asked me a one question survey and we got a FREE Blizzard from Dairy Queen.  Inside the park, different sponsors were giving away even more FREEBIES!!! Fast Signs had FREE pictures with a live model dressed up to look like Elsa and The Girl Scouts gave us FREE Admission to Bounce and 2 FREE Art classes.

All these Freebies add up, moms! I know I feel blessed when I get them.  Some of the Freebies lead me into activities I would have never have thought to do with my daughter.  Like Bounce, it so wasn’t on my radar, but now my daughter and I will both have a new and unexpected adventure due to Freebies!!!
