Lactation Cookies

As a new mother, breastfeeding was a completely different experience for me.

I was told about the cracking, flaking and general pain that is sometimes associated with breastfeeding, however I hadn’t planned on my milk supply running low.

I thought, “As long as I am feeding her on demand, my body should know how much to make.” Well my daughter had a healthy appetite and sometimes I wasn’t consuming the nourishment I needed to produce her food.

As a total internet junkie, I researched increasing milk supply and came across lactation cookies. Fellow readers raved about the milk supply increase and shared stories of milk spraying out of them…so I just had to give it a try!

I’m sure it is different for everyone, but it really worked for me and other mommas I gave the recipe to. There are countless recipes on Google and Pinterest, but this recipe is simple, delicious and has proven to work. So enjoy and make sure you have your breast pads prepared after eating these delicious cookies!

*Make sure you purchase brewer’s yeast! I made the mistake of buying active yeast and it was a disaster. I could not find Brewer’s yeast at the local grocery store so I had to buy it at Sprout’s.
