Meet Tonya!

Tonya is a Midwestern girl from Illinois who became a Rio Grande Valley transplant three years ago. She spent seven years as a second grade teacher. After completing her Master’s in Reading and Literacy, she became a reading specialist for three years. When she moved to south Texas, she became a stay-at-home mom for the first time. Tonya’s been married for ten years and has three kids ages 9, 6, and 20 months. She loves online shopping, Netflix, and running but nothing makes her happier than spending time with her family. Moving to the valley was a huge change for her entire family but constant sunshine and great Mexican food has made it well worth it! Tonya is new to blogging but is an avid reader of all types of blogs! It is not uncommon for her to quote her favorite bloggers and proceed to buy their favorite products and clothes. She is looking forward to connecting with moms around the Rio Grande Valley!

What are your three beauty must-haves?
1. Lip gloss– I cannot imagine going somewhere without at least three tubes of lip gloss.
2. Bobby Pins– It is extremely rare for my hair to be down. I’ve become an expert at different hairstyles using bobby pins due to the heat and wind in the valley.
3. A Tan– Since entering my 30’s, I no longer tan in the sun with out LOTS of sunscreen. I do love having a tan though and have tried several different self tanners.

What is your pet peeve?
Bad drivers.

What is your favorite food?
MEXICAN! Since moving to the Valley, I have also become obsessed with avocados. I can eat avocados with every meal!

Dog or cat person?
DOG, DOG, DOG!!!

What is your worst habit?
By far my worst habit is my diet coke addiction. Sadly, the McDonald’s crew knows me by name. There is nothing that can turn around a rough day for me like a large diet coke.

What is the best accessory?
YOUR SMILE! Also, I am a firm  believer that smiling at someone can change their day.

What is your ideal day?
My ideal day would involve being in the sunshine and beautiful weather. We would head to the beach as a family and play in the sand. I still can’t believe we are lucky enough to live so close to the ocean. Growing up in Illinois, the closest ocean was a 14 hour car drive. I am constantly reminding my kids that they are so blessed to go to the beach as often as we do!
