Snips and Snails,….

I’m still not sure how I feel about what transpired yesterday. It was a bittersweet day for our family. We can officially say the Eggleston family is now complete. Sweet little man Taite is the last and final hatchling the Eggleston family will celebrate.

William Taite Eggleston

My husband had a vasectomy yesterday afternoon. Which has raised some pretty good questions from so many people about our choice. And what I mean by that is why we chose him (vasectomy) and not me (tubal ligation). For us it was simple. He quickly volunteered to take one for the team. I don’t think he trusted me to make that kind of a commitment. I didn’t trust me to make that kind of commitment. Aside from all that, the birth control options for women are overwhelming. There are just so many.

I can celebrate there will be no more wine sabbaticals, no more perpetual morning sickness, no more 8.5 pound babies. Yippee!

But right now, that glass of wine sounds pretty darn good because it’s feeling a “tad” more bitter than I expected it to. You see, I kinda think we make some pretty babies he and I. I suppose I can find comfort in the fact that I can still make pretty things, it will just have to be one dimensional and mailable๐Ÿ˜‰

How will you (or did you) know enough was enough? What options are you (or did you) consider in birth control?

Vannessa Eggleston
Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Vannessa feels fortunate to call this place home. She married her high school sweetheart, Will, who also happens to be a Valley native. She's mom to three of the most charming monsters you'll ever meet (is that an oxymoron?). She has a quirky personality and an unhealthy obsession with all things Egg-related (she married for love and the last name happened to be one of the perks ;). She enjoys sweet tea, a good pun, designing, and quiet time. When she isn't wearing her Mommy and Wife hat, she's most likely sitting at her computer chronicling about the chaos that is her life as a work at home, stay at home momprenuer at In The Company of Mom.
