A Halloween Safety Tip

0

Is this weather not perfect for Halloween!? And can you believe it is only 2 days away? Where has this year gone? This year I actually ordered the Littles costumes early in October. I usually wait till the last minute. So last-minute that I end up having to have things overnight-ed. Cole wanted to be Batman (and he’s been sporting his costume since the day we bought it) and Ellie is his side-kick, Bat Girl. They look so cute when they play in their costumes! Can’t wait to dress them up Wednesday and take them Trick or Treating! (Can’t wait to raid check their bags!)

Now that we’re on the topic of Trick or Treating, I wanted to talk a little about safety. I tend to be a little on the A-Type side of things, but not in the “I’m an organized person” side of it all, more on the “I’m a neurotic person” side. We received a post on the Rio Grande Valley Moms Blog Facebook wall a couple of days ago with a a link to Family Watch Dog. Family Watch Dog is a free service that will help you locate registered sex offenders in your are. This is a great resource for those of you that are planning to move into a new neighborhood and/or area. But it got me thinking about how well this would apply to Trick or Treating. I suppose our Littles won’t be the only “monsters” out there!

We Trick or Treat in our neighborhood and we’ve actually signed up on the website to be notified when a registered sex offender moves in or out of our area but I know that a majority of the Trick or Treaters out there do not actually Trick or Treat in their own neighborhoods. If this happens to be you, it might be a great resource for you to know which areas (and which houses) to avoid this Halloween. And even if you do plan on staying in and around your neighborhood, it couldn’t hurt to check it out in case there have been changes since you last checked.

You can get more information and check out their website here: http://www.familywatchdog.us.

Happy {and safe} Halloween ya’ll!!!!!
