Monarchs make one of the most epic migrations in the animal kingdom. Join Quinta Mazatlán on Saturday, March 18th from 9 am to 2 pm to celebrate the first annual family festival to raise awareness about butterflies through activities, art, music, nature walks, talks, and culture on Saturday, March 18th from 9 am to 2 pm
All ages will enjoy walking into the butterfly tent, with butterflies and local flowering plants.
At the celebration, children will have fun learning about the amazing 2,000 mile migration and the life cycle of the butterfly with opportunities to accomplish badge requirements. Children will travel on the Migration Path, create art, enjoy stories, costume characters and face painting. During our musical performances we will be having a special Monarch March! All ages are invited to come in butterfly themed costumes to participate in our Monarch March!
Butterfly experts will be on hand to answer questions from all ages. Children and adults will have an opportunity to learn much about the habitat of butterflies and their influence on our eco system at the festival.
The Story of the “Monarch Migration” will be told by Tony Henehan at 10 am followed by the “Journey South” at 11 am by Sue Sill. At noon Carol Goolsby presents “Plant Native Milkweed for Monarchs” and John Brush at 1 pm on “Designing a Butterfly Garden”.
Artists will be exhibiting and selling art throughout the celebration with a special Butterfly Quilt Show. Musicians of all ages will perform including the Colibri Music Studio & Children’s Choir.

Rio Grande Valley Moms Blog and Costco present Mom Hour, a Holiday Shopping Event just for Moms! Have you ever wished Costco opened just a tad bit earlier so you could check your Costco shopping off your list before 10am? Especially around the holidays?! Well this is your chance! On Friday, November 13th, Costco will be opening their doors an hour early (9am) .. FOR Rio Grande Valley Moms Blog moms (+kids).
