Easy Recipe: Homemade Corn Chips

0

Welcome to my home cooking post! I am hoping to make a post about food at least once a month. But let’s be honest, it will probably be only once a year, because LIFE.

If your family is anything like mine, we run through chips. More specifically, corn chips — you know, the kind you eat with pico de gallo… or in the closet away from your children and partner. Those chips are my favorite snack and really easy to make in a pinch. Here is a quick recipe for corn chips, hope you enjoy!

Homemade Corn Tortilla Chips

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 corn tortillas
  • olive oil
  • Season All Salt
  • Chili Powder

Instructions:

First, I stack about 8-10 corn tortillas. These can be any color.

Next, cut them into 4 pieces. Trust me on this one. I know 4 doesn’t seem fair, but it’s the best size.

Once they’re all cut into pieces, get a big mixing bowl and throw them all in there.

Pour about 2 tablespoons of olive oil— not vegetable oil— olive oil… again, trust me.

Next, the seasoning! The seasonings we use are Season All Salt and Chili Powder. There’s no particular measurement for these; it’s more of a preference.

Now, mix it all up until every piece is coated in seasoning and oil.

When that’s all said and done, turn on your oven to Broil- High.

While the oven is getting ready, get out a cookie sheet, line it with foil and begin placing the chips on the pan.

Here is where I like to sneak in a counting and pattern lesson with my son. We also like to play “races” to see who can make a cool pattern first.

Lastly, put the chips into the oven for 5 minutes.

When the timer goes off, flip the chips and put them back in for another 5 minutes (give or take).

Now that your chips are done, place them in a bowl, lined with napkins to catch the remaining oil and enjoy!
