Hurricane Harvey: How Can the RGV Help?

Note: This post is being updated on an ongoing basis to add new information on drop off locations for donations.

Here we sit in the Rio Grande Valley, unscathed physically by the horrific storm that missed us by pixels on a map. Many of us were already emotionally prepared for loss, yet the rain did not come. Instead we are tied in to the disaster that our friends, family, and neighbors in the coastal and central regions of Texas are feeling now. Harvey’s extended stay has put many of our loved ones and fellow-Texans in peril and their property in disrepair.

How can we help? What can we do now? We don’t want to sit here and do nothing. Below is a summary of resources where monetary donations can be made and physical drop-offs have been organized. We will be adding to this resource and we encourage you to add to it in the comments below or on our Facebook Page for our local readers.

  1. Thanks for posting this list. Habitat for Humanity in Harlingen and McAllen are both accepting donations for trucks they’re trying to send north today or tomorrow, as soon as the roads are clear.
