Eight Ways to Have a Better Week

0

In keeping with the resolution/ goal-making theme of the new year, we wanted to share eight simple ways we’re making this week a little more healthful, happy, and fun.

  1. Power Protein Breakfast. We made these baked egg cups for breakfast and fell in love. Easy to make, easy to eat. (More ideas for easy breakfasts from CMB.)
  2. A bigger, better Livestock Show is coming! The RGV Livestock Show and Rodeo is expanding their events to include a week of FREE concerts. Can’t wait for March.
  3. Head to the Pharrmer’s Market on Thursday. If you’re free from 10 am  – 1 pm on Thursdays, pick up some fresh produce in Pharr and get a jump on your healthy eating plan.
  4. Run a mile. Or five miles. Or even just walk around the block a few times. If you need motivation, check out Anastasia’s Run 365 Post and print her handy tracker sheets!
  5. January 24th is National Compliment Day. Say something nice to someone. Make it meaningful.
  6. Stop by the Brownsville Health & Wellness Fair. This Thursday (Jan. 26) from 2 pm – 6 pm. Free screenings and tons of info at the Brownsville Convention Center.
  7. Plan ahead for next school year. Our annual guide to RGV Childcare, Preschools & Schools is live! Registration for many schools starts this month or next, so check it out now, make some calls, and plan some school visits.
  8. Grab a free breakfast. Chik-fil-A is doing free breakfast from 6:30 – 10:30 am, every Wednesday this month! Promotion is good across the RGV.

Hi. I’m Renee. Last year, I left my full-time job in New York, moved back home to Texas, bought a house, and popped out my first baby. Luckily, I did this all with my awesome husband and our totally bewildered cat. Now that we’re living in the RGV, I’m getting to know a whole new side of Texas— which I love. I also love my little girl, public libraries, fresh margaritas, adult conversation, and anything funny or satirical. (I used to love sleeping, but I think we all know that’s a lost cause.) When I’m not adjusting to life with a toddler, I'm working from home as a freelance copywriter. Oh, and downing copious amounts of iced coffee.
