About Felicia

Never is there a dull moment in her life, either working as the Business Development Officer for Texas Regional Bank or volunteering for several community organizations within Edinburg and McAllen, all while mommying. Known as momma to son Felex (14 months) and mommy to step-daughter Erin (6 and “a half” years old) and best friend to husband, Alexis, for the past 4 years, married 2. Between toddler trials & triumphs, soccer games & kinder graduation, Alexis and Felicia are learning to find some time to start their traveling adventures a little at a time by finally taking their honeymoon this summer. Felicia loves dancing to decade music, a good salmon and a good red wine; thank God Alexis is good at two, out of the three!

What is your pet peeve?

False representation. I don’t like to deal with people who are not genuine about what they say and do. You represent yourself, your work and your family with your actions and then your words. I am very careful and do look to surround myself with people that align their words with their actions. If you can “practice what you preach”, you’re a person of integrity.

What trait (physical or personality) do you hope your child inherited from their father?

His patience to listen, my husband although has a lot to say and sometimes has “selective hearing”, always sees the good side in people by simply listening. Because of his ability to listen, he’s able to treat people with respect and genuinely care about what they have to say. He is the type of person that can meet someone and 15 minutes later know where the person works, their children’s story, and what they love to do on their weekends. I pray my son is blessed with that trait, because I know it’ll get him far in life if he uses it to the best of his ability.

What favorite trait (physical or personality) are you secretly glad your child inherited from you?

Although my son has physically inherited about 90% of all physical and energetic traits from my husband, he has, however, inherited one physical trait from me that I was secretly praying my entire pregnancy….my eyes. My eyes are my grandmother’s eyes, and have always been a unique trait of mine. My son has the same deep look my eyes have…..He’s going to be a knockout with his mom’s eyes and dad’s smile! Watch out ladies!

What was your idea of a good time when you were 21? What is your idea of a good time now?

My idea of a good time when I was 21 was a fun road-trip to Austin and some good drinks down 6th street with my girlfriends! My good-time now consists of family, close friends, BBQ, refreshing drinks (iced tea or lemonade) and laughs. Any relaxing place where I can be with my entire family is a good time for me.

How many kids do you have? How many kids do you want?

I have two children, my step-daughter whom I met when she was two years old and my son who is now 14-months old. I’ve been blessed with the best of both worlds and now, for any holiday or special occasion, I have to find a matching bow, dress, tie and vest. I love the fact that I have a girly-girl at home, I’m able to make braids, sing “Let it Go” all while having a boy’s boy who lives outside and has an affinity for all things outdoors. However, three has always been my goal. I do pray that the Lord blesses me with one more child in the very near future.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

I was advised to : “Bring My Give-a-Shi**er Down”. One of my professional mentors advised me this just about a year ago., and I don’t think it could have come at a better time in my life. My son had just been born, I was back at work and learning how to juggle all things in my life. He explained to me, that it is our natural leader instinct to care, and sometimes we tend to care about things that are simply out of our control. So I have learned to bring my “give-a-*&%#er” down just a bit, and it has helped with the level of anxiety both at home and at work.

What is your favorite food?

I love seafood! My favorite meal would have to start out with a shrimp cocktail and crab legs, followed by a good salmon and asparagus, and finished with a yummy lemon meringue pie. And if seafood is not an option, well there is always a good steak and potato meal. My husband makes a killer salmon and steak, so my home is always my favorite place to eat, but Pappadeaux’s does have the best planked salmon around town!
